I need a better setup - recommendations?

Hey guys :) Just wanted to ask something regarding Air-Cooling for my rig that I plan to upgrade.

So as mentioned I do want to plan to have a nice upgrade for my 3-Yr-Old PC and one of the concerns that I've got is the cooler. Oh and I'll be upgrading the PSU, GPU, Case (Also need to buy an adapter for the USB 3.0 Headers from Mobo > Case because the mobo doesn't have any, only 2.0.) and CPU-Cooler by the way. I have already chosen what parts I want to have but I don't know if all of them are compatible yet.

At the time, I couldn't afford the better cooler due to my budget and I had to choose the stock-cooler -_- Bad choice on my part so GG me.

My CPU is an AMD FX 8350 sitting on a blue M5A78L Asus Motherboard because my cooler atm is somewhat loud and apparently tends to vibrate meaning that my friend can hear the vibration in the other room.

Sooo... Question time:

Spoiler

1) What's a good air-cooler that's not majorly expensive and is very good/reliable and is available to purchase in the UK (Preferably Amazon UK) ..?

Budget?: Anything below £100 and of course, NO Liquid Cooling. Sorry guys. :/

2) If I move my PC so that its sitting next to my monitors instead of under my desk, will that still cause a lot of noise / vibration or not at all?

3) Because I'm also changing the case, is this a good setup for Air Input and Output?

Spoiler

INPUT: 2x 120mm OR 140mm fans on the Front

---------------------------------------------------------------

OUTPUT: 1x 120mm OR 140mm fan on the Back

Is this setup a good choice or not really? o.O

4) I assume stock coolers are just screwed in? They don't use paste? Right?

If so, then I just unscrew the old one, screw in the new one and apply paste right? or is no paste needed at all?

Would appreciate the help, would be very helpful!

Thanks

~Xiauj ^_^

Are you sure the vibrations are coming from your cpu cooler and not a hdd? Does stopping the fan stop the vibrations?

The stock cooler is clipped on with a lever.

What are the rest of your specs?

I'm not fully sure, I did think it was the HDDs but whenever I put my hand against the case, it doesn't feel like its the HDD but then sometimes it does feel like its the HDD if I've got a game running or Google Chrome open with X-Amount of tabs.

Should be easy to uninstall then! :P

CPU: AMD FX 8350

MOBO: Asus M5A78L mATX AM3+

CPU-Cooler: Stock

RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz (Samsung, don't ask why lol.... they didn't have any other 2x8GB kits in stock at the time -_- RIP Me)

HDD: 2TB SATA-III 7200RPM HDD

PSU: I don't know which manufacturer made this PSU but it has 450w.

Case Fans: Apparently there is a 120mm fan installed but I don't know where in the case.

If you're not sure, you should first use your hands to stop the fans or start the system without drives to identify the source.

What case do you have?

Ok I'll try doing that tomorrow, currently 1AM here lol.

Oh oops, I just realized I forgot to mention that previously. My mistake :/

The case I had to get second hand, due to low stock in nearby stores and the budget but the case is called a CoolerMaster Sileo 500 with the included 120mm fan.

PCPP (PCPartPicker) doesn't show the inside layout so here's a link to somewhere that does:

@WoodenMarker,

Did you also want to see the components I'll be upgrading to btw? Including the cooler/case ..? to make it won't cause much vibration/noise?

Here's the link so far: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/67P66X

The ones with prices are of course the ones I hope to buy

You should first identify the source of the noise before buying things in hopes of lowering it.

Will keep this updated tomorrow!

212 Evo is enough. But I too don't think CPU cooler is the one causing vibrating. Or that its case fans at all. If it is case fan, unplugging or stopping them one-by-one will solve which one is the issue. Also 2 in, 1 out is enough for most for fan setup.

To add for stock cooler question too. It will have paste on. All coolers have either paste or thermal pads. Latter is more common in laptops and GPU VRAMs.

@WoodenMarker, @LoGiCalDrm - Hello again guys ^_^ > UPDATE regarding the vibration:

So, I think.... it appears to be the 120mm fan on the back of the case that's apparently causing a lot of noise/vibrating when there is High CPU/RAM Usage (40%+ CPU / 65-68%+ RAM at the time I felt the case). As for the CPU-Cooler and HDDs, I haven't tried them but I don't think they are the cause(s), cannot feel much vibration near the front of the case.

Also.. me being entirely blind (lol), I had entirely forgot to mention that there's also an optical drive but there is no disc in it atm so I don't think its that either, there would probably vibration if there is a disc obviously but I can't feel any vibration on the outside-front part of the case near there soo... it looks like the fan is the cause, I think.

Another guess might be the PSU located at the back also, but I would say it's probably the fan.

Sweet! :D

EDIT: Do you think that everything will perform alright? Also, is the Hyper 212 Evo a good choice for the '8350..? o.O I hope it will be enough.

Oh and do you guys know of some good case fans?

I hear Corsair do some nice ones but I dunno which are the best.

Is it controlled by mobo? You can try to make it vibrate less by either tightening it bit more or by using robber grommets for screws. Those will help if fan is moving while blades spin. It might be bad case of air making more noise than it should. But thats usually more of humming style of noise.

Controlled by Mobo > That I'm not sure about.

Bad case? > More than likely :(

Reckon the new one in the PCPP Link will be good with 2 on the front and 1 on the back still?

With a 212 Evo that is

Controlled by mobo as in connected to mobo and controlled by CPU temps. Bad case as in not the actually case but in that situation. And Entoo is OK, I guess. I've heard people complaining here about bigger versions having bad airflow.

In that case yes, it's more than likely connected to the mobo.

Why I say that is because I tested/felt the case when the CPU Temp was at 40% and the RAM at 65% +.

Correction: 40% to 55% + **

Don't feel the case and guess what's causing the issue. Stop the fan with your hand or start the system with the drives to see if the noise goes away.

The Enthoo Pro M is alright--definitely better than your current case. That being said, you could get a smaller case considering your motherboard is matx.

The 212 Evo is enough cooling but there are better and quieter options. Is your current cpu cooler too loud? You should first confirm where the noise is coming from.
