Somebody please help me before I rip out what little hair I have, the OBS forums are garbage and people rarely respond so maybe you guys can help... long story kind of short I was having problems with OBS 16.3, so I tried a fresh install, I must of deleted something in the folder thats needed because now it won't re-install, at about 80% I get this error http://prntscr.com/d3a8fp. I even tried going into my recycle bin and restoring the deleted files and still nothing... you'd figure if I removed a file needed to use OBS that it would just be added back on install but nope. I even tried changing the install to a folder on my desktop and that made it install but then the record and stream buttons don't work, nothing happens, and I get a file path error.

Uninstall the program trough windows. Also, run the installer .exe as an admin. You shouldn't uninstall a program by deleting parts.

I have run the installer, I did that first, and when my issue wasn't fixed then I thought a clean slate would help.

Okay. Go to the registry and delete all keys pertaining to obs (if there are any)  delete all of the parts of OBS you can find, and then restart. Also go to control panel-> uninstall a program and try to uninstall if there if it shows up.

This may be of little help but, Bootstrap means it's trying to latch onto something.

So, my best guess is it either can't attach OSB onto what it needs (lets say DirectX) either because it can't or because it's not allowed to.

Have you tried reinstalling GPU drivers?

It's not a race to the bottom.

No, last time I did that was just about a week or 2 ago. Guess it can't hurt to try...

Give it a shot, but my gut is telling me that this is not a problem with OBS itself but another program.

Could be an anti virus (some pick up overlays and bootstrapping as a virus because some virus' use the same method)

The core OS itself (unlikely)
GPU drivers, (most likely cause)

A program bundled with the OS such as DirectX, .net framework, Windows update ....

It could even be another incompatible program. Like two AV working together, two programs probing temps, two firewalls and so on. They interfere with each other. If OSB and lets say MSI afterburner was both trying to capture the screen one might kick out the other.

Again, that's just my previews experiences kicking my gut.

Only firewall is windows, anti virus is windows defender I think its off but I can make sure, did the graphics drivers.
