Hello ladies and gents!

So I'm still kind of a newbie when it comes to PC, I still have my first rig I threw together January of 2015. So basically I'm looking to upgrade but I have some qustions..

I'm looking to upgrade mainly my GPU (which isn't an issue I already have the GTX 1060 picked out), but I also want to possibly upgrade my CPU / Mother board and RAM as well.

I have an Intel Core i7 3770 3.4 GHz CPU and I honestly don't know what mother board I'm pretty sure it's just a stock Intel motherboard.

On Intels ark guide it says under memory: DDR3 1333/1600

So my question is: Can I only use those speeds? Or can I use any speed as long as it's DDR3?

Any responses would be greatly appreciated!!

Im expecting to get at least another year or two out of my 3770k, so I wouldnt worry about that.

How much memory do you have now and at what speed?

You have to use ddr3 on that platform. If you want to upgrade to ddr4 you'll have to move to Skylake or an x99 platform. Ddr4 alone is not going to give you a very noticeable fps boost at all. Just going for the 1060 is going to make the most since until you're ready for a substantial upgrade .
