To trade or not?
Well I can at least answer your eBay specific questions. People usually bid casually for most of the listing's countdown until the last 3 hours. From there people start bidding more aggressively, with the bidding peaking in the final 5 minutes. The whole idea from the buyer's perspective is bid as late as possible to prevent other bidders from having time to react, also known as "sniping". There are ways to do this without being at your computer with a service like esnipe, but many people will do this manually.
Your best bet for selling on eBay is to list somewhere between 12 PM and 9 PM EST on Saturday or Sunday with a 7 day listing that will end at that same time and day next week. This is the time when the most bidders are active, and thus the best time to get high bids. People also tend to spend more, across all item categories, from November 25th to January 15th. This period is when people spend the most on eBay. List during this time if possible.
Notes on your listing:
- The photos could be improved. Try taking at least 6 photos, and with a single solid color background.
- Setting up the bids in USD will attract more bidders, even if the item is being sold from outside the US.
- Offer global shipping. Weigh the item in the box you plan to ship it in and tell eBay the package weight and size. eBay will then tell each buyer what the shipping will cost automatically based on their zip code. With the exception of Russia, shipping to any of the major 1st world countries on eBay is very simple, and a great way to attract more buyers. Many people don't even factor the cost of shipping into their bidding!
- Your feedback is terrible. You will make a lot less money selling a high valued item with 0 feedback. To solve this, I would recommend you take down your listing for now and do some feedback farming. Unlike farming on other websites, feedback farming on eBay does not break the rules, although it is frowned upon, you will not get in trouble for doing so. Many buyers will only look at the feedback number and percentage, and won't read the actual comments in the feedback details page. To farm, click this link here and bid on these cheap Chinese items, or change up the search terms a bit to bid on other cheap things that are <$1.
- In your description add if the card comes from a smoke free home or not, as well as your return policy.
-
If all else fails, consider using eBay Vallet to sell the card for you, at a 30% loss. I'm not sure if they offer that service in Canada. I would need to sign in to their website with a Canadian account to view anything on the sellers page.
Hope this helps!
