My dad has a very old workstation (Dell Precision 670) with a Quadro FX4500. I have a spare radon 4670 and a 5450, both 1GB DDR3 cards, will putting either of these cards in this rig be more beneficial than the original card in there for stuff such as 3D work and rendering? (This is just until we can get an upgrade of his rig)

The 5450 should be able to run larger scenes due to having more vram but the quadro will less likely have errors mid-project or mid-render.

It depends on your priorities? Depending on how you're rendering things, it might not even make a difference or matter at all.

workstation cards have features normal cards do not have.

Sometimes some programs will lock functions if it doesn t detect a workstation gpu.

best bet is a newer workstation gpu.

you could try the cards you already have but it could make his work crash or cause errors.

an unstable system is rly something you dont want when you work.

Anything I write is just a comment, take is as such, there is no guarantees associated with anything I say.

Why not try it if you have the other cards

He's paranoid of people touching his computer. :T
