CPU help

I'm currently using  a Second gen i5-2400 cpu from like 2008, and was wondering if there really is a need to upgrade atm and if so what is a good board/CPU combo.

The only really thing i think i NEED to upgrade right now is my ram sitting at 8GB and it's bottlenecking for BF1 so going up to 16GB of DDR3.

(not sure if it just makes more sense to just get a new board and CPU and go with DDR4 idk if the speed difference it that big a deal)

Any advice would be great thank you all in advance.

well if it's a 970 than you are bottlenecking your GPU a bit. as you can see in this video, a 970 performs simarily to a 660 when bottlenecked by an i5- 2400.
