Hello! Good day! i have a question for you guys..

i have a windows 10 in my 500gb HDD so im planning to format it and place my OS into SSD

so this is my question, now some of you have know that the windows 10 free upgrade is over, when you installing it, there is a product key, so i think some of you might be buying it, but i think i see the possibility to have a free windows 10? just a guess, before i format my pc, there is a product key in the "My Computer>Properties" so if i enter that product key, is it possible to enter that product key when im reinstalling the windows 10 in my SSD? i hope you understand my grammar kinda crappy.. Thanks guys!

there a programs wich allow you to migrate the OS over to the ssd , after that the SSD will be your boot and you can wipe the 500gb drive

RyzenAir : AMD R5 3600 | AsRock AB350M Pro4 | 32gb Aegis DDR4 3000 | GTX 1070 FE | Fractal Design Node 804
RyzenITX : Ryzen 7 1700 | GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI | 16gb DDR4 2666 | GTX 1060 | Cougar QBX

It's always better to reinstall from scratch.

Whatever you see in Control Panel, that is not the product key. In fact you won't find your product key anywhere on Windows 10.

Luckily there is a solution for this. You can download a program called ProduKey which will extract it for you.

And yes, you can definitely reuse your product key when reinstalling on the SSD. Keep in mind not to format the hard drive until you have made sure that the activation with the product key has worked, just so you don't lose your product key on accident (also: write it down!). If during the installation it doesn't take the product key, you can always press "I don't have a product key" and activate Windows later.

You can extract the license using ProduKey and write it down.

I thought that windows 10 licences were tied to your hardware.  So if you do a clean install on the SSD it should just activate itself (as long as you don't change other pieces of hardware like you motherboard).

Also, if you don't mind using a Microsoft account as your user account, your license will be linked to your Microsoft account.

@MikOL Don't take my word on any of this....
