I opened up my old laptop, out of curiosity. Saw lots of interesting stuff. But I'm unable to understand what the two 'things' next to my WLAN card are? And what are those two small wires connected to the WLAN, I've seen them in all laptops, but what do they do?

Thanks!WP_20161101_16_44_02_Pro.jpg

WWAN = Wireless Wide Area Network

That's where your 4G/LTE modem would be if the device had one. The blue and gray wires are it's antenna so some more expensive skew of the device must come with a WWAN chip preinstalled.

Yes I know that WWAN = Wireless Wide Area Network

I meant, what does a WWAM card mean? :)

Does that mean there are cards available where I can just insert my 3G SIM and use internet?

Yes. Go nuts: http://www.cartft.com/catalog/gl/162 Albeit, you should first look up the genuine part form the laptop manufacturer just to ensure compatibility.
