So im about to sell my GTX 680 as it drives me mad with the noise level. Fan spinns constantly.

And im wondering.. what aftermarked card is known for less noise than the others? im kinda keen on a 3xfan design.. im thinking since it got 3 it should spinn them less.. making that more quiet..

Suggestions on GPU are welcome!

1060 generates so little heat. Any cooler with two or three fans will be super quiet. MSI, EVGA, ASUS...all use the same cooler from their 1070/1080 on the 1060. Which is massively overkill for this little card. The fans don't have to spin fast to keep the card cool.

If you don't mind the red colour theme. I'd suggest the MSI gaming X.

Most GPUs won't spin their fans while idling and doing less demanding tasks even some medium loads some cards can keep their fans off.

The Strix 1060 from Asus might be a decent choice since you said you were interested in a 3 fan design.

Personally I'm considering a Strix 1060 over a Nitro+ 480 since I'm not sure I want to deal with recoloring an MSI card.

Another question. will the 1060 play witcher at 1440p at more or less full graffics. And at what framerate?

For 1440p, you need 1070 to do 60 FPS average on Ultra settings. 1060 will do only ~40 FPS on Ultra.

1060 is a 1080p card.
