Ram problems

Hey guys,I would really could use some help...I have 4gb of ram (2 ddr2 sticks) on a old crappy motherboard(gigabyte m61pme-S2P),it worked fine all until i upgraded cpu from athlon II x2 215 to phenom ii x4 840.I updated the bios with no errors or anything.The problem is when i use all 4Gbs it suddenly powers off but not in ordinarly way,if there is the sound playing it freezes and repeats last snippet of the song for sometime,and displays full screen of just one color(totally random)So i tried a lot of stuff: changing the Gpu,unpluging various thing such as web cam or cd drive,but nothing fixed the problem except taking one ram stick out,but the wierd thing is both stick work perfectly fine on their own.Im using it right now with 2Gb and it works totaly fine(except the shitty speed -_-).My bets are on the moterboard and  something software wise.Just to say i updated the bios before cpu change and it worked ''better'' crash ocured maybe once a day or 2-3 times a week,and when i swtich cpus it reamined the same but it slowly became more and more frequent.And another thing when i take my main gpu(msi r7 250) and use radeon 5450 it works fine but still crashes but less frequently.

Is the ram matching pair? If so check if they are the same version numbers on the side.

No,one is transcent and other is Kingston but they worked together for like one and a half year.

youv obviously tried different placement for the ram? Like slot 1-2 and 2-4, 1-4 etcetc?

Yeah ,and it fixed it for like 3-4 days with no crashes and suddenly it started again.I have only 2 ram slots

Hmm i wouldnt rule out the mix match ram as a problem.. Although most likely is the board getting old. Have you tried clearing cmos?

Multiple times,when i bought other stick of ram i payed attention at cl times speed and such.

Old ddr2 ram often had compatibility issue. For example 2 exactly the same sticks of the same brand say corsair but with 2 different version say v1.2 and v1.3 often didnt work properly together same goes for cross brands. The chips inside the sticks were often made by different companies say samsung, hynix or micron. The micron chips mainly had the most problems  however others did also.

Forum didnt work for sometime for me,how can i check witch chips are on my rams?

Look on the chips somtimes they have a brand or numbers to google

That doesnt really tell me much. Read on the black chips on the side of the chip. Should have the makers brand..

Not sure if kingston made there own chips or not but iv never seen them like that before and im really no expert on ram. My corsairs are hynix chips if i remember rightly. Sorry man cant help you. Goodluck ?
