Help Upgrading my GPU

GilbertC3

So I'm looking into upgrading my gpu to a newer AMD model. I'm not to informed on the specs and I'm basically just looking at price/performance graphs but would still like some advice. I currently have a Radeon HD 7700, not sure the specific model, just going off what CPU-Z says. I've been looking at both the MSI RX 470 and the Sapphire Nitro 470, both 4G, since they're around my budget and they seem to be pretty solid cards for 1080 gaming, which is all i really need. Would love to hear from someone who knows more than me, probably most of you, on how these two cards compare, and/or,  if there's any other 470 versions around the same price point ($200) that are better.

Specs

-------------------------------

CPU: AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor

MotherBoard: Gigabyte 970A-D3 Rev 3.0

Ram: 8Gb DDR3

GPU: Radeon HD 7700 Series

Don't get a reference card. Please spare yourself. They're mini microwaves.

Awesome thanks, is there anything else i should know before buying, like motherboard incompatibilities or CPU requirements?

It would be cool if you can list out your complete system specs.

If you know your power supply that would be good too. Your CPU is on the weak side but I think it will be just fine with a 470/480. Just try and upgrade to intel down the line.

With your processor you should expect some bottlenecking in CPU demanding titles and games where you are trying to push high frame rates. Thus issue will be more pronounced on the 480 over the 470. You will still see a noticable bump in frame rates though.

I see no other things that need to be noted.

Intel Xeon 1650 V0 (4.4GHz @1.4V), ASRock X79 Extreme6, 32GB of HyperX 1866, Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT, Silverstone Redline (black) RL05BB-W, Crucial MX500 500GB SSD, TeamGroup GX2 512GB SSD, WD AV-25 1TB 2.5" HDD with generic Chinese 120GB SSD as cache, x2 Seagate 2TB SSHD(RAID 0) with generic Chinese 240GB SSD as cache, SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 850, x2 Acer H236HL, Acer V277U be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, Logitech K120, Tecknet "Gaming" mouse, Creative Inspire T2900, HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless headset, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
