mouse wrist rests?

I'm thinking of buying a wrist rest for my mouse pad as I have red marks on this part of my palm (where the bone is) and it may also resolve the pain I have in my wrist whenever I game for long periods of time.

 

What are your opinions on it? Are there better solutions? Will an arm rest support be better? like this for example

Get a desk mat/pad

 

They go under  your keyboard and mouse, and sometimes monitor

They make it easier to clean, but tis also softer and provides padding to prevent strains

i already do have a mouse pad. makes no difference whatsoever in my opinion.

This is a whole desk pad, they are different

also, i edited my original post regarding an arm rest support instead. what are your opinions on this?

haha, its not just the red mark, its a pain in my wrist also which is discomforting
