Hi! I am finally planning to build a PC, and i am planning to play BeamNG drive, and multimedia work. I need to decide between i3-6100 and a GTX 1060 3GB, or a i5-6402P and a GTX 1050 Ti. Everything else stays the same, 8GB ram,  and H110 chipset. Price would stay the same. Or should i wait for Kaby lake or Zen?

The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma.

The 6402p is a low power cpu intended more for laptops and other situations where energy consumption and thermals must stay a minimum. Unless this is a laptop you should be looking at the similarly priced 6500. For beam.ng either setup will do fine as its not that intensive of a game. However for video editing, which is virtually all cpu, the extra cores in an I5 will be very helpful. However the i3 will still be very capable unless your doing something crazy.

The 6402p is the same price as the 6400, but offers 100mhz more freq. It sacrifices iGpu from 530 to a 510. The 6500 is more expensive and falls out of my budget.

both of those PCs will probably be horrible in BeamNG seeing as my 4690K struggles at times, even at 4.7GHz, sure its playable but its not a constant 60 when doing more extreme things(more then 4 vehicles/player objects) or playing on maps with lots and lots of trees(jungle rock island for example) unless i turn settings down to low-medium but if those are your choices then the I3 build will do you better because the CPUs are basically just as powerfull

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

If you do a lot of high resolution video editing, take the i5. Otherwise, take an i3 and you can upgrade down the line, when you need to.

Also, Zen is coming in mid 2017 for desktops iThink, so I dont think you should wait for that. Same thing goes for Kaby lake
