The problem is i have tried these updates and they just say "searching for update on this computer" and they never work.

If the standalone updater doesn't work (I had another issue after a sysprep)... Try to run cmd as Administrator:

msdtc -uninstall

then

msdtc -install

Restart computer and standalone installers should work for some odd reason...

Hello, I have recently reinstalled windows 7 Home premium 64 bit and i needed to download the updates to get windows 10. The problem is that it will search for updates literally for days. i left it on for 3 days straight and it was still searching for the updates. Some people have recommended that i use the windows update standalone installers but when i run them they say "searching for updates on this computer" forever. i Have also tried running the downloadable troubleshooter but it will not work at all. When i try to use the windows 10 upgrader it hangs at 99% for days so im guessing that has something to do with the updates.

Main PC: ASUS PRIME X299-A / Core i7 7820X / 16GB DDR4 / Palit GTX 1070 Ti / Corsair CX550F / Corsair Carbide Air 540

Secondary PC: ASUS X99-A / Core i7 5820K / 16GB DDR4 / EVGA GTX 780 ti Classified / Corsair CX500M / Fractal Define S

Hi mate,

I had a similar issue when deploying windows in my environment and found it would never EVER stop 'searching for updates'. I found this would always be an issue on Windows 7 and resolved this issue by downloading update KB317260

I'm going to put a link to my PC specs which actually aren't my PC specs and I cry myself to sleep everyday so I can have these PC specs but I can't afford these PC specs so PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs.

Why do you need to update windows 7 to get windows 10? If you have already upgraded to windows 10 your key is now a windows 10 key. Get the ISO from here and install it.

Not true. The key I use for windows 10 was an 8.1 key. I do no need to 8.1 to then upgrade to 10 I can put my key into windows 10. This is assuming you upgraded while 10 was free even if you didn't you can still install windows 10 without a serial and buy a key later,

fair, once you have upgraded you shouldn't need to touch windows 7 again.
