MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G - Cant get those fans spinning

partymarty

Hello,

I got a strange MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G issue. I cant get those fans to spin...

I know about the 60 degrees setting, but the fans won't even spin when the GPU is 85 degrees or higher.

I've tried:

Reinstalling windows

Clean MOBO bios flash

Flashing the newest GTX970 BIOS onto the device

Placing the GPU in another x16 slot

MSI Afterburner

EVGA Precision

ASUS GPU Tweak

Updating all drivers that got something to do with the GPU

And I keep getting this result:

Fan speed % = 100% (manually set at 100%) --> Also the AUTO setting or any setting won't make the fans spin physically

Fan rpm = 0

GPU Temperature = x (+65 degrees)

The strangest thing is that the fans sometimes do spin for like 1~2 seconds (max 950 RPM) and then they drop back to 0... And stay at 0 for 1minute or so.

I've made an afterburner screenshot (note: temperature got over 70, but was slow with making the screenshot)

Specs;

Motherboard: Asus m5a97 evo r2.0

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition --> Coolermaster 212 evo as cooling

RAM: Kingston Hyperx Savage 1866MHz (2x8GB)

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G

SSD: Samsung 850 PRO 256GB

PSU: Be Quiet Straight Power 10CM 700W

Anyone got any solutions for me? Would like those fans to be able to spin...

Kind Regards,

partymarty

Check to make sure the fan connector on the gpu is plugged in fully.

Hmm... I've reconnected them, and now they work better... They still disconnect sometimes.

So I think I'll install a new psu-->gpu cable tomorrow... And see if it gets better.

And I will control the gpu if everything is connected as it should be.

Thanks a lot!!
