My First PC Build

ArdorGamer

So I decided I wanted to get into PC Gaming a few years ago and went into it blindly, deciding to be first completely impatient and not doing my research on what I should do as far as buying a computer. Or asking my friends what they think I should do, and ended up buying one for $800 at Best Buy, and found out I had an additional $400 after I bought it, which I could've used to build a pretty nice gaming rig. I've been looking into cases so far and have settled on Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 on amazon. As far as budget goes, I figure out roughly how much I get paid one week and determine what part(s) I could buy with that weeks paycheck, if I want to save that weeks paycheck for a another week for something larger (say a GPU) than I will do that.

My build I originally wanted to create would be intended for latest Gaming Titles, but lately I've been playing games like Overwatch, CS:GO, LoL, and Rocket League. "Insert Name Here", and I don't really know exactly where I should go as far what to buy when it comes to motherboard, or GPU, etc. At the current moment, I'm playing on a 1080p monitor and 2 screens. I would like to be able to play games like Black Ops 3 or Just Cause 3, and The Division and still be able to run with a decent Frame Rate.

As far as Peripherals, I am currently happy with my setup, so no peripherals are not needed.

I did Research today and have I think I have found a rig that may suit the needs I have noted, but I'm not sure seeing as how I haven't exactly built my own PC before, we'll see how it works out Below is an attachment of my build list (The total cost was $1127.80). Feedback on what I could change in this build would be very much appreciated, thanks =)

Hi

Do you really need 16 gigs of RAM? Because 8 gigs is enough to game with. And concider upgrading the CPU to a 8350

800$ gaming build (60fps min in max settings 1080p)

Capture d’écran 2016-10-21 à 17.32.50.png

you can of course change case and upgrade GPU if you still have cash, 1060 then 1070 being better

and 2 way sli is not the smatest decicion, if you need a good gpu, pick a rx 480 or a 1060 or 1070 depending on your budget what you have left

the 3200Mhz ram is a bit overkill, you dont really need a 6600k just go with the regular 6600 or 6500. and the power supply, is that the cx500? go with the cx550m

ram : yeah but look at the price...

cpu : 6600k or not 6600, 20$ saving is not worth it at all.

this build is great because OP only has to change GPU to upgrade performances in 2 years

PSU : maybe you're right I don't know it //edit : m for modular, indeed better, but more expensive

Save even more money and take the Hyper 212 off.  It's a 6500, he can't overclock.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

I think you need to rethink more or less every component in this build. First of all, your buying fairly previous gen parts, you should just go for a skylake processor + mobo.

AMD is a bad joke, I think change the processor and RAM to a skylake processor and maybe some Gskill or Corsair RAM.

I'd go for a WD harddrive over seagate aswell, though there is not that much difference.

Why are you going for a 950 SLI? I don't think 2GB will cut it much longer in games, SLI doesn't use both cards VRAM, only one. You should wait for the 1050 and 1050TI, they will outperform the 950 at a similar price.

Also, don't spend $100 on windows, make recovery media and get a product key for $20.

Main Rig

CPU: Ryzen 2700X
Cooler: Corsair H150i PRO RGB 360mm Liquid Cooler
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair VII Hero
RAM: 16GB (2x8) Trident Z RGB 3200MHZ
SSD: Samsung 960 EVO NVME SSD 1TB, Intel 1TB NVME

Graphics Card: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080Ti OC

Case: Phanteks Evolv X
Power Supply: Corsair HX1000i Platinum-Rated

Radiator Fans: 3x Corsair ML120
Case Fans: 4x be quiet! Silent Wings 3

Go even further, change the chipset to H170 instead of Z170.

Don't buy an AMD CPU, get a i5-6500 or i3-6100, both can use stock cooler. 16GB of ram is not needed for gaming, 8GB (2x4) is enough. Don't waste money on 950 SLI, get a GTX 1060 6GB for the same price. Don't get a 2TB hybrid, get a 1TB HDD and a 120GB boot drive SSD. That PSU is completely overkill get a high quality Seagate or Corsair powersupply around the 550 wattage range.

Stock cooler for 6500 is good enough for cooling. That ram speed is completly uneeded get 2133, use the money saved to get a better board partner 480. Get a Samsung 750 evo 120gb it is more reliable, cheaping out on SSD's kinda defeats the purpose.
