Does the optical drive matter with motherboard?

Can i get any optical drive with my pc or do i have to match it up with a certain one. For those wondering what motherboard im using its a MSI Intel H81 (H81M-E34) thanks for taking the time to read this.

Any drive. The only difference is form factor, some cases may require a slim DVD drive while most will require just a standard 5.25

Just a SATA cable and SATA power. Optical drives work similarly to a regular HDD/SSD
