Hello citizen of linus.. i request your finese aid on which bios should i chose. I have a mobo( Asus PH61 M Plus v3) and i plan to update its bios. But, when i go to the bios support centre for my mobo model , there is so many bios with different version.. the latest one is on 2015 .. my question is should i update to the latest bios or chose specific like " Added memory compatbility" because the latest one say only " Windows 10 compability". If i update to the latest one, will i lose the advantage like "added memory compability" in the previous version. Any tips and precautions before i proceed?  ME CANNOT BRAIN, HELP. ToT

Upgrade to the latest bios or don't bother.

There might be some additional features if you upgrade your bios and you shouldn't loose features (Unless they have specified otherwise), but there is always a very small risk of bricking your bios.

If you don't need a bios update, I wouldn't, if you do or want to upgrade the bios, okay you will most likely be fine.

BIOS updates are usually cumulative.

AMD Ryzen 7800 X3D, MSI B650 Project Zero, Antec C5, Gigabyte RTX 4080 Super Aero

There's no need to upgrade the BIOS just for the sake of upgrading. Updating your CMOS ROM is too much of a risk to do without an actual reason to do it. The way it works is that you overwrite without error checking the only BIOS you have with the new. If anything at all should go wrong, you'll end up with a non-functional motherboard. So unless the upgrade addresses a specific issue you're facing, do not upgrade the BIOS.

Does the BIOS you currently have do everything you need it to? If it does, do not update.

If it doesn't, pick the latest one.

Do you set the xmp profile?  If you do and that causes the crashing set the timing and speed manualy.
