I also forgot to say she toke it to a repair store they put a new software on it and then it worked for like half a day, then I set it on a table and it did the same thing.

Honestly this forum cant help you in that kind of thing.
But i will help you.
Make sure its an original samsung phone not the clone one.
If its still can be turned on its a good news.
Download The firmware For the phone in sammobile.com
And download Odin <- this is to Flash the phone
Download Samsung Usb Driver <- Google it

After that. Put your samsung into download mode by pressing and hold Home Button + Volume Down + Power Button.
After that a new screen will pop up. Press volume Up.
Open Odin.
Extract The firmware.
Install samsung usb driver.
Plug in your phone via usb cable.
Open ODIN. your phone will be detected.
Click AP or PDA. choose only one.
And find your firmware *.Md5 format *
After that click START.
Wait till it finish and replug it and then Start up your phone.

Done.

I have a mac so I can't download Odin but i tried that in recovery mode and that did not work and we got the phone from Costco a Sasktel dealer so its legit.

Flashing with ODIN and updating via recovery mode is a different thing..u cant expect the same result.
Thats why it sucks to be a mac user.
Well get yourself a PC or borrow it from someone.

I meant I tried to boot in to all the different modes like recovery, download mode
