Core I5 6600K Overclocking?

I just built a PC with the Core I5 6600K with an ASUS Z170-P motherboard but I dont understand the overclocking on the board or its just me this being my first build but, My question is what am I changing when I overclock my CPU the turbo or base clock? Also what is a good stable overclock I have a Hyper T4 but I dont want to push my system balls to the walls but maybe 4Ghz. If this made no since to you im sorry i know how to build a PC but the UEFI is Spanish to me for the most part.
