Xfce Ubuntu-Single screen horizontal mirror

I'm running Ubuntu which boots directly into the Xfce desktop environment. I use a single screen and can't use more (no GPU, unless there is another way to do it) . It's a very old  machine.

I was playing with screen settings and i set the "horizontal mirror" on. Now my screen looks like shredded paper and it's basically impossible to navigate with the mouse. Is there a way to return this to its original state without wiping any data? I have an install disk.

i5 6600k and GTX 1070 but I play 1600-900. 1440p BABY!

Still, don't put too much faith in my buying decisions. xD

Get a linux live CD/USB.
Boot into the live environment and mount the desktop's OS drive.
Modify the config file with the setting that enables that and save changes.
Reboot into Ubuntu Xfce.

Every time I try booting into the live desktop environment from a CD it brings me to a terminal type thing, not a desktop GUI.

._.

I'm not really sure what to tell you then. Usually that's not the case if you used a Live CD image that has a Desktop Environment.

Try this one? http://www.lxle.net/

installed any new kernel updates lately?

sound like your display manager is broken or what not.

Which display manager do you use?

I'm using plain old Ubuntu which I later installed Xfce desktop onto.

I know why this happened, because I set the screen to horizontal mirror. Honestly I thought it would switch back after 30 seconds like it does on Windows 7, but I'll admit it was stupid to think Ubuntu Xfce would have the same features.
