Hello!

Lately Windows 10 Pro has been shutting down very slow. I timed it and it took 1m32s to shut down completely. Also, the OS in on a 120GB Kingston SSD. Can anyone lend a helping in finding out why is this happening? Also, if more info is required let me know. Cheers!

Just now, Wampir said:

Thanks for the reply! However, I really don't have a lot of stuff running (steam, steelseries engine 3 and 3 others apps) and it was shutting down faster before, like 10-20 seconds..

Its not those programs, its normally stuff like the audio service, networking, and other things. There is no easy way to know whats going on.

Also id just sleep you computer. It uses about the same amount of power and turns on faster without closing programs

I've come up with a few ideas:

Do you have an official Windows 10 Pro key? It's been believed that Microsoft is willingly slowing down some tasks on "pirate" Windows (making them act as if there were a lot of updates, creating large void tasks when turning on/off...) Not so much to make it provable but you know...

Are you running dual-boot system? If so, maybe your grub (assuming you have linux, anyway) is making Windows do a full-shutdown every time, which takes longer.

If you try to turn your pc off just after playing or doing something data-heavy, the OS might still have to wait until all the read/writing operations are done (which can soak some good 10-30 seconds depending on the tasks and the hdd).

Dunno, those are the reasons I can think of. Hope it helped.

Is hybrid shutdown turned on? I see some memory leak in your system based on your screenshot. Try restarting your system, or using this cli  shutdown -r -t 0             then check if your memory is still pegged up to almost 100%.  I recommend to turn off hybrid shutdown in your situation.
