BSOD Endless Loop, 3 Codes

daveman84

OS - Windows 10 64-bit

Custom system

Maximum viii GENE Bios Ver. 2202

Processor I5-6600k

SSD Boot drive

HHD storage Drive

System started today in overclock mode windows said starting overclock 22%, I never even tried to overclock this computer, I do not know why it was trying to from boot.

After windows splash screen system restated then got infinite loop of BSOD messages.

"Stop Code: System thread not handled"

"Stop Code: Critical process died"

"Stop Code: System thread exception not handles"

I talked to Geek Squad and they suggested updating BIOS to clear the overclock. That cleared CMOS then updated BIOS, it cleared the over clock but did not fix the BSOD, I tried to do a windows repair with windows 10 boot disk, but when I boot from disk I get the same BSOD again....*Will not goto disk even if forced from BIOS.

All repairs I have found says to start windows and update drivers and windows updates, or try applications. I can not do this since I am in an endless loop of DSOD. Any suggestions other than Buying new Hard drives.

please post CPU and RAM voltages and timings (+RAM brand/model)

seems like still unstable overclock.

also whatever happens you won't have to buy anything new (surely not HDD anyway)

Picture shows LN2 Mode, but it is disabled on mother board so that should have nothing to do with it.

RAM: Vengeance LPX DDR4 2x8GB/16GB 3000MHz

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX970 (not that it matters at this point)

CPU Cooler: H100iGTX

Power: EVGA Supernova 750 G2

DDR4 standard voltage is 1.35v, write it instead of auto, and CPU core/cache voltage put 1.25, CPU standby voltage 1.184. DRAM frequency remove auto put 3000 (if you can't look for XMP option in BIOS and activate it)

try to reboot with that

this is your motherboard right ?

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-GENE/

Z 170 and i5 6600K so.... will you use this "K" ?

this is your ram

http://www.corsair.com/fr-fr/vengeance-lpx-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-dram-3000mhz-c15-memory-kit-black-cmk16gx4m2b3000c15

as you can see your motherboard supports 2 DIM (that is what you have) in XMP with timings 15-17-17-35 and voltage 1.35

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/MAXIMUS_VIII_HERO/4L-DRAM_QVL_table-0615.pdf

so press the XMP button, see if timings and voltage are correct.

and later, we'll overclock this baby 6600... mine runs stable @4.6. (you can for 30$ add a warranty to overclock as much as you want, did you know ?)

So far this is working....I am now at My OS Desktop....Should I still go back to BIOS at enable XMP?

And yes that is my RAM and MotherBoard

But now when I am playing Overwatch I am getting massive FPS drop, normally I am playing at a steady FPS 144 with no problems.

so did you put manually default timings & voltages of your RAM in your BIOS ?

how much vcore for your CPU ?

I put in all the numbers you had me do. And it worked for about 4 hours. Then it shut down with the BSOD

what was the message on BSOD ?

were you doing anything CPU intensive ?

anyway, reboot, update graphic drivers

When it went to BSOD I was watching you tube videos.

I can't get it to go back to windows. I'm stuck in the BSOD loop again with the same messages that I had posted before. I think it might be time for Geek Squad.

it's really strange that touching voltages and timings offered you 4hours stability then you got stuck in BSOD lop again.... didn't you touch anything else ?

Nope didn't touch anything. Played Overwatch for about 3 hours then watched a few YouTube videos and then my speakers made a weird sound and then a bunch of lines on the screen then it went to the blue screen of death.

maybe the RAM or CPU are damaged or are "bin chips" (bad componets)

it can happen and it can sometimes take a long time for it to go bad

but i have never seen something like this

if you have another system put the boot drive into that and see if it boots

****SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH IT'S REALLY TERRIBLE*****

Been married to my wife for 3 years now! Yay!
