IMHO, Win 8.x is the best Windows to date, so I'm not sure what your going on about.

If I got what I wanted then Vista would have been 7 and 7 would have been 8.1, because of the pressure to release quality every time.

That's an upgrade charge if you already have an older version of OSX. I don't think you can buy OSX separate from a Mac.
