Recommendations for mini itx pc

Hey, I've watched video on the i3 6100 running on faster ram (Digital Foundry). Faster ram seems to help performance a lot in some games but, does that justify the price tag for a z170 board I'm thinking on building a mini itx pc in the node 202 by Fractal Design but, I'm on a budget less than 900 hopefully and I saw a Asrock Z170 Fatality board go on sale should I jump on it?

Faster ram won't be that of a super increase. Get a cheaper mobo. z is useless much

Would you know by chance if it would help with emulation? I'm sorry I should've added that to my thread but if its not going to help much I will stick with a board with at least a optical port for my sound system. This pc will be made for couch gaming and emulation.

What type of emulation?

Dolphin mostly probably cemu as it looks pretty promising and possibly various other emulators on the side. Plus some AAA steam games.

its over $900 plus he said he wanted to build in a node 202

I'd rather have a much better CPU and more RAM than build specifically in one case lol

Otherwise just use my build and swap the PSU and case for a node its almost the same price

I would love to overclock and have a bigger case but, thats not the directive or purpose of this pc. I need something very small almost console like. Yet strong enough to run emulators and some AAA games.

Idk I feel like its going to get hotter than hell with that hardware in there but, you really wont know till you build it. Im pretty sure I might stick with a I5 for the front end database to organize all of the games that Im going to run from boot. I know It will take a lot of resources and I want a snappy performance.

I would suggest:
1. 6400 if you want to BCLK oc. You save some bucks there. If you don't want to OC, get a 6500 and a B150 or H170 board.
2. Throw a Cryorig C1 or BeQuiet! Shadow Rock LP in there if you think about OC. If not, keep stock cooler, then upgrade cooler later.
3. You don't need fancy ram. Look for the cheapest reputable brand you can find. You don't even have a window in the 202.
