PLEASE READ IMPORTANT INFO.So I want to bring to light an issue I had with my PC recently.  My in game performance was terrible.  Micro stutters and flashing screens made games unbearable to play.  Now I have a 4790k with a Strix 1080 so this build should run anything I throw at it and it has until recently.  I thought it was maybe the 1080 or Nvidia drivers because I just recently purchased those so I put my 980 back in and installed drivers I knew that worked and same problems were occurring.  I monitored my PSU and did tests on my RAM and everything checked out.  So my friend asked me if I recently reinstalled Windows and I actually just did a couple days before I started getting these issues.  He told me his friend was having the same issues on a FRESH install of Windows 10 Anniversary Edition.  He fixed his problem by installing pre Anniversary Edition and then just upgraded his system from Windows update and after that everything ran smooth.  So I downloaded a pre Anniversary Edition .iso and installed a fresh version of Windows 10 without the Anniversary Edition update.  I then upgraded from Windows Update to the Anniversary Edition and now everything runs smooth as butter.  I want to know or hear if any other people are having this issue or maybe even if someone struggling with poor gaming performance this will help them.  I'd like to hear some feedback!

Windows 10 is just unstable. #Win7MasterRace

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Very interesting, and peculiar. I wonder if it is due to other drivers: SATA controller driver, networking, or audio (usually are the common drivers for what you are facing). I wonder if the one of the driver manufcature screwed up the OS detection, where it only checks a specific version of the drivers, else it installs the wrong OS (Windows 7 or 8 for example) driver, or Windows uses its generic drivers instead.

I don't blame you. I wish I had a system with this problem to better investigate

The thing was I was also not getting frame drops....frames were consistent as well but the stutter was still there

That is because of the fps counter you used is no good. Many, like Fraps, does an average, and only checks now and then, not right on the spot. This is because already calculating fps, consumes performance by itself.

If you want to investigate just get the latest .iso and try it out.  I'd like to see if this could be duplicated.  I also tried it on two different SSD's.  A crucial and a Samsung with equal results.
