solution: turn on vsync in game and turn off multi-adapter compatabilty. results may vary

gpu: gtx 980

cpu: i5-6600k

OK so heres the issue i am having, i load up obs and everythings fine i open overwatch and everything is fine. i look over at the stream preview on obs and it looks like its running at a lower frame rate, i look at the fps and its at 24. i then get into a game, at the hero select screen it dropped to 14, then the match starts and it goes up to 45, while ingame its at a constant 60fps. anyone know whats up with this? i feel its the cpu if needed i can give settings that i use for obs.

Do you have OBS set to use NVENC H.264 the shadowplay codec as the encoder? It will take almost all the strain off your cpu and put it to your gpu.  If so I have no idea what else could cause that.

Case - NZXT H6 Flow : Mobo - ASRock X670E PG Lightning : PSU - Deepcool PX1000G : CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D w/Arctic Freezer III 360  : Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32gb 6000mhz CL30 : GPU - MSI Expert 4080 Super : Storage - Verbatim Vi7000G 4tb NVME SSD  : Displays - Gigabyte 32" M32QC Curved 165hz & 27" M27Q Pro 165hz 1440p

Does it look or feel choppy? And are you talking about game fps or stream fps? Also list those settings.

the game is fine its at 60 fps all the time, in OBS it has been dropping a ton, but using tips from the OBS fourms it has been fixed. what i needed to do was turn on vsync in the game to limit the cpu useage and turn off multiadapter compatability in obs and now obs is getting a stable 60 fps.

tried that, it lessened the frame loss but it still just hovered at 45 fps.
