Buy or Wait

Ok so I'm currently planning a gaming / programming build, and I was wandering if I should simply get a gtx 1080 or wait for a 1080 ti. I mostly play on 1080p and 1440p at 144hz. and want to play at high to max settings I would like to keep it for at least 1.5 to 2 years before considering upgrading the video card. I know the best of the best is the Titan XP but there's no way I'm spending $1200 ($1500 in Canada) for just the video card.

Wait and see what 1080ti brings. GTX 1080 can do 1440p and 1080p solidly

Alright. Would you happen to know how long after the release do custom video cards come out? Considering the 1080 reference is more expensive than the custom, I'm thinking the ti will probably be also.

Yep totally this unless you there is a reason you need the computer right now.
