I want to change it from website.com/smf to website.com/forum. But the website automatically redirects to /smf.

  1. Copy all forum files and folders from website.com/smf to website.com/forum
  2. Upload http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Repair_settings.php to website.com/forum and run it.
  3. Check that everything is working.
  4. Delete forum files and folders from website.com/smf
  5. Redirect website.com/smf to website.com/forum

So I'm running an SMF forum and and I want to change it from website.com/smf to website.com/forum. But the website automatically redirects to /smf. I also have a landing page I want to put up. I want it to be the first thing that comes up when you type in mywebsite.com. Thanks :)
