Hi all, I was just wondering how I go about replacing my boot SSD drive?

basically I've got a Samsung 750 evo in there at the moment but I want to upgrade it to potentially a Samsung 850 pro or higher, am I able to do this and somehow transfer the OS and all its files so that I can just plug it in and boot from that?

i really don't want to have to reinstall all my software and change all the settings again, so that's what I'm trying to avoid

thanks

It is called cloning. It can transfer the OS and every program/setting over to the new drive.

Not much point in going from 500mb/s to 550mb/s if you ask me, you are better off upgrading to NVMe such as the 950 pro or the SM961 then you will be getting 3GB/s read and 1.5GB/s write...

Is the 950 pro an m.2 drive?

if so then not sure if it will fit with my dual graphics card set up

How do I do this? Is there free software available or can you do it through windows itself?

You need third party software to do it.

What are your system specs? If you are x99 you might be able to.

I use Acronis True Image to image all my machines

Failing that Symantec Ghost is a good program.
