Cherry keyboard manufacturing question

Go to solution Solved by Squirrel724,

While cherry does make their own boards (mostly for business) most of the time they are only providing the switches. In the case of your K70 you have 104 switches made by cherry mounted through a corsair plate, into a corsair pcb, with corsair keycaps. I am sure some smaller companies use PCBs designed and built by other companies in the name of cost savings with their own case around them (or in some cases just different branding on an existing design) but a company such as Corsair or Logitech would be designing all their own stuff.

I just found the factory tour video of the Cherry factory. After watching it I'm wondering how much of my Corsair keyboard came from that factory? Does Cherry make the entire board for Corsair like how Foxconn builds the iPhone for Apple or does Cherry make just the switches and then Corsair builds the casing, PCB, etc them selves (or more likely contracts it to a Chinese company)?

I spend too much on my PC. Then I spend even more on my Sim Rig. Damn, this stuff's expensive.
