Good headphone recommendations?

Sup guys :) I need your advice on something. So at the moment, my headphones are (still :() hurting my ears a bit as of recently, they (The headphones) are rubbing against them (My ears) and I just gotta find a new pair soon, I can't bear the pain and so, yeah; I need a new pair. I currently use a pair of WIRED Headphones called the Razer Adaro which are very nice but as mentioned have began to rub against my ears when using them. Also the wire is a bit too short which can get annoying.

So, I'm looking for a pair of WIRED Headphones (NOT A HEADSET) with most of the following:

-1/4" or 3.5mm Stereo connection-wire-type

-About a 5ft-6ft wire length

-A very good amount of empty space between my ear and the inside of the "Earcup" I guess you could call it? I don't know the proper name so please forgive me :P. Please make sure it has a lot of space before recommending!!

-Good sound quality and comfort

How much am I looking to spend? Umm, about £0-£110-£140 (GBP) Maximum.

So if you guys have any recommendations, please. It would help me out a lot.

Thanks

~Xiauj ^_^

What do you mean by "Open/Closed" and the "Signature"..?

I've heard of Open/Closed before but not the actual meaning

The back of the ear parts themselves allow air in (Open) or are closed (Closed) the open backed are supposed to present a larger sound stage im pretty sure. IDK much about audio stuff but thats what ive heard

Aaah I see, umm I don't mind either, I think what I have at the moment is Closed although I could be wrong on that :P.

"Open/closed" referes to the earcup design.

An open design will allow for more ambient noise to get into the headphone, but open headphones will also allow for a bigger soundstage.

Closed just means that the cups block ambient sound (like your current headphones, basically).

Soundsignature referes to the way the headphones sound. Some headphones have a boosted bass, some have extra sparkle in the treble and some sound completly neutral.

In that case yes I'll go for Open ear-cups and a Sound Signature ^_^

And as long it has a good wire length, 3.5mm or 1/4", good quality and comfort as well as PLENTY of space then yeah sure, I'll take it! xD

Any other recommendations ..?

"A soundsignature" doesn't make any sense.

But for open headphones I would recommend either Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros or Sennheiser HD518s.

Although, I would recommend listning to the DT990s before buying them. They are very much a love them or hate them pair of headphones.

Ive owned these for good 5 months. The most comfortable set of headphones ive ever had. Amazing earcups, large and light with fabric finish not a stupid leather or some cheap stuff that wears off after time. Clear sound quality, less heavy bass so if u preffer bassy heapdhones these are not for u.

On the DT990 Pros, what would you say that material feels like on your ears when listening to something..?

And I forgot to ask another question in my original post which is this: What's the difference (If any) between the ones that have different Ohm levels..? On someone's link I saw there were I think 4(?) different types and I don't quite understand how Ohm works :P

So far I'm thinking about saving up for the DT990 Pros by Beyerdynamic, they look quite nice and I hope that don't cause any pain to my ears lol. Good price on them as well.

The earpads are velour and soft foam. It feels like wearing a 1970's velour couch.

There should be 4 different types (32. 80, 250 and 600 ohm).

Theoretically, the higher ohm versions should sound better, but I don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference between the models.

The 80 ohm version is usually the cheapest, so I would just get those.

Sound difference between headset and headphones is very noticable and at 1st weird because all headsets have high bass curve. It took me a week to adjust to DT990 Pros. I did this test with my SS Siberia V2 and then an year later with DT990 Pro and I couldnt hear much of a difference (Did it now again after several months and picked 5 320kbps and 1 128kbps...): http://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2015/06/02/411473508/how-well-can-you-hear-audio-quality

Im 26. Probably kids and teenagers who dont listen to music all day every day can differentiate. But my hearing is little damaged by now.

I have no idea what your trying to convey

Edit: I just now realize how that sounded... I didn't intend on being a dick.

I was only comparing the sound of the different versions of the DT990s. I wasn't comparing the DT990s to any other types of headphones or headsets.

And people only did slightly better than chance in that test.

Was trying to say that hearing a difference between different OHM headphones highly depends on your hearing quality and that goes down rapidly with age.

But wouldn't that depend on what kind of difference the ohm rating supposidly makes to the sound?

When your hearing deteriorates it's done in the higher frequency-

It's also not correct that high impendance = better sound in a general sense.

This is why a general comparison between differenrt types of headphones/headsets doesn't make any sense.

My current earphones are rated at 9Ω, but Ill gurantee that they're better than, say, Razer Hammerheads that are rated at 32Ω.

earphones are lot closer to your ear than any headphone/set ever was. When I had inears and pushed them pretty deep they blocked all outside sound and sounded superb. I have never had a closed headphones though.

I was just trying to exemplify that a high ohm rating ≠ sound quality in a genral scenario.
