I am new to this whole gaming PC build thing & I have absolutely no clue where to start with anything, the only thing I know is the budget I have to play with between £500-£700 (hopefully more towards the higher end)

I have asked for help on other forums for advice on building my first gaming pc & explained my budget but instead all I've got in reply is here's a rig you can build for £1K.

I've searched YouTube for hours & every video seems to always have completely different components but for the same price. (My head feels like it might explode)

So can anyone help me out with advice because I would like to get my first (hopefully only build) right first time only having to upgrade when necessary.

Thanks guys, sorry for the long post & can't wait to build my first gaming pc.

Well, what are you going to be using it for? Just gaming, or are there any compute intensive applications? (CAD, video editing).

Also, where do you live? (country) This is just in order to get a vague idea of how expensive products are in your region.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Here is a question. Do you have any target software? I.E. Exactly how powerful a machine do you need?

Also, http://www.pcpartspicker.com I could recommend going there and taking a look at some parts and what works together and what doesn't.

I built my PC for about 500 us dollars and I love it, though some here don't like my CPU choice.

What do you need to buy for 500-700? just the computer? do you need OS? do you need monitor mouse keyboard speakers?

what sort of monitor do you intend to game on? (resolution and refresh rate are important here, as this can dramatically affect what kind of PC you need, and what sort of budget you're looking at)

Do you care for any aesthetic design/form factor or future proofing? do you need any specific connectivity options? (such as optical drives or USB C ports, etc)

Snip

This build will be able to play pretty much any current AAA game at ultra settings at 60 fps on a 1080p monitor: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/6Z6Zcc

There is room to grow and if you're willing to spend more there are a few things you could change (A better motherboard would be ideal if you're looking for a system that can be upgraded in the future +50-ish for that) but this is about what you're looking at in your budget range. keep in mind that this build does not include an operating system, or monitor/mouse/keyboard/speakers.

I'd like a mid tower with window (vein I know) I will be gaming on a 32" 1080p 60hrz screen, mouse & keyboard are covered.

Usb ports would be good an optical drive for ripping DVD's/Blurays for using plex.

Does this help as I'm new to this.

That helps. the case I suggested has a windowed variant. Now the problem (and benefit) of windows is you're going to see what is inside the case. If you want that to look good you may need to spend a few extra bucks to have better looking components and such (or if you just like the look of raw computer components that is cheaper and just fine too =)

Here is the same build with a window, and a better motherboard (both aesthetically and functionally. This board would be better if you want to upgrade in the future) as well as some different RAM. cost doesn't change much http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/43KVFd
