Hello fellow hardware and computer friends , i want to upgrade my custom pc , but i dont know what should i do upgrade (cpu or gpu) my budget is not very high at the current moment and that is why i can only upgrade 1 thing at a time!

My current setup consists of:

Cpu: i5 3350p

Gpu: r7 260x 1GB

Ram: 8 Gigabytes of low speed

Mobo: Asrock H61M-DGS

PSU: Thermaltake SE 530W (SM)

OS: Windows 10 64 bit (clean installation)

I use my pc mainly for games , although i use it for coding as well (java , c# , html , visual basic , etc..)

My main games are: CSGO , DOTA 2 , H1Z1 KOTK , SMASH + GRAB and the NFS 2016

I used to stream and record , but i don't anymore due to high cpu usage (which i need to fix)

P.S if someone knows whats up with the high cpu usage , please let me know , when in games it might go 80-90+%

you never know whats round the corner! :D

The new lineup of Nvidia GPUs have been released, I wouldn't expect another mainstream one to be released for a while now.

Anyway, why do you want to upgrade?

CPU - i7-4790k | CPU Cooler - NZXT Kraken X53 | Motherboard -  Asus Gyphon Z97 Armour Edition | RAM - Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB) 2400Mhz | Graphics Card - MSI GTX 1070 | Power Supply - Corsair CS750M | Storage - Seagate 1TB HDD | Samsung 500GB 850 Evo | Case - Fractal Design ARC Mini R2 | Colour Theme - Generic Red & Black

Operating System - Windows 10 Pro | Peripherals - Corsair RGB Mechanical K70 Keyboard/Corsair M65 Mouse

Hello if you are using your PC for playing games I would either go for a new gpu or a new cpu. If you go for a GPU go for something like a RX 480 for budget but if you go for a new cpu, it depends on your budget you can either get an i5 4690k (If you want to overclock) or an i7 if you can stretch the budget.

Well thanks both of you for the fast reply , i really dont know what to upgrade , i have a arround 460-500 euros for an upgrade but what will gonna be more efficient , a really strong gpu or like an i7 6700k with a entry level motherboard?

Games are GPU intense.

Of course the CPU is important too, because if it bottlenecks your GPU , then you are gonna be limited even if you get the best GPU.

So I would advise you to upgrade your GPU since you are going to use your computer for Games mainly.

Now what you need to know is what is the best GPU you could match with your CPU that woudnt be bottlenecked.

I can't really see your i5 bottlenecking a GPU, so I guess you could go with a GPU?

If I were you I'd probably upgrade GPU.

Any GPU's in mind?

Well with the new GPU's coming out I would recommend the 1060 or the Rx 48. However he could buy a used gpu.

It;s obvious the best upgrade is a GPU.

If you have 400-500, then i guess you should be good to buy a 1070.

Even if your CPU is bottlenecking it a little bit, you still have a big improve for your games, and when you are going to upgrade your CPU / MOTHERBOARD / RAM , then you will already have a strong GPU.

In other words : Get a strong futur proof GPU , and if you feel the need later, just improve the rest.

Yeah. It all depends on what he uses his PC for. If it was gaming I'd suggest a GPU.

I'd probably recommend CPU for stuff like video editing, rendering etc.

Or for just general more faster PC, SSD and RAM.

I use my pc mostly for csgo , dota 2 , h1z1 kotk , smash + grab , coding ( and sometimes streaming) , my budget can go from 300-500  euros at max

Do you have bad performance or anything like that while playing or do you just perhaps want higher graphical settings and FPS from what you currently have?

For streaming I'd go for CPU, games GPU, and if loading times or general speed of stuff is slow an SSD.

You play similar games to me but I have a GTX 760 for a GPU and that works fine for my games but with your budget I am guessing you would like something better ahaha

i have an ssd so the load times and everything arround it is gucci but , in h1z1 kotk i run it in lowest resolution and settings possible and get like 60 fps which is fine but sometimes they drop , and in smash and grab same story basically , yea i ll just probably go for gpu i guess

How much RAM do you have?

8 Gb kingston (1 module due to the fact that the second one was burned and didn't actually got a replace for it)

I have a 970 and it is pretty much perfect, doesn't run all games at 60 in ultra, however it will run the games you're interested in with absolute ease.
