Cant get into BIOS

Go to solution Solved by 91Chris,

OK so resetting the CMOS did allow me to get into the BIOS, not because I had something set incorrectly but because after resetting it I was prompted to go into the BIOS. I have a physical CMOS reset button on my board so I guess I can just use that each time I want to enter my BIOS.

Thanks,

Chris.

Hi. I have a GA-Z77X-UP5 TH motherboard and a Ducky Shine 2 (I think, maybe 3). The Motherboard has no PS2 ports, only USB. My PC boots up and loads Windows faster than my keyboard is functional, so I am unable to get into the BIOS. Any ideas on how I can get in? I tried unplugging my drives but this didn't work.

Cheers,

Chris

your keyboard should maintain basic functionality from the moment you get the bios splashscreen, even if you don't see any leds light up.

Try spammin' that wonderful f2 key during startup and you should be able to get into bios. Unless you've set your bios launch option to super fast, in which case you'll need to reset your cmos by remove the cell battery on your motherboard and then placing it back while the computer is powered down.

I tried an old generic Dell keyboard I had lying around, real POS and even that didn't work. I spam the Del key as soon as the PC turns on but nothing. I already run stock BIOS settings with a couple of small changes (nothing to interfere with boot times), so I'd imagine resetting the CMOS will do nothing to help. I will try though and see how it goes.

Set as solved please.

By the way, does your keyboard have a BIOS switch? that sometimes helps, a lot of flashy keyboard have it for compatability.

Or you could just disable those ultra fast boot features and solve your problem permanetly.

All of the fast boot options are disabled by default. All I do is enable Virtualization and set RAID mode.

I will look to see if there is a BIOS switch. I see there are DIP switches on the bottom of the keyboard. Pretty sure it's not a flashy keyboard though, I got it because I thought it was simple... With pretty lights. I see keyboards out there with screens and a bunch of extra buttons etc.
