Hey guys I'm looking into the Samsung 950 pro 256gb ssd and currently using the 850 evo my question is can I just clone my 850 evo to the 950 pro or will I need a full reinstall to avoid problems.

If cloning is viable what or which would be the best way?

Paragon hard disk manager, drive copy feature as always worked well for me!

Make sure you have atleast 10gb free space on the evo

Space is not an issue as it will just be getting cloned and formatted :) I'll check out that paragon program thanks for the information :)

Hi there :)

My two cents on this:

although cloning does involve some risks of data corruption or compatibility issue, SSD to SSD cloning should be relatively safe as long as the target (new) drive has a larger capacity than the source (old) drive and uses the same (SATA/PCIe/etc.) connection.

Any difference between the drives could produce some errors as cloned HDDs on SSDs might cause the SSD to be recognized as a HDD is miss out on functions such as TRIM or cloning a SATA drive on a PCIe drive could lead to some driver-related issues.

If you have a good backup of the data you should be safe to attempt a clone. The safest option is to do a fresh install if it's not a problem for you.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
