5.25 card reader help

So a pin on my mobo for the USB 3.0 header broke, and i just recently bought a card reader and the card reader has a USB 3.0 connector. I mainly just want the card reader for the memory cards its allows but now since my USB 3.0 header isn't working, i'm not sure if my card reader  will still work. 

 

Or in another case, will i just not be able to do front panel I/O for USB 3.0 and the other things such as USB 2.0 will still work.

yes everything else will work just fine. 
if you really need the usb 3.0 ports  you could get this cable

the ports will work at usb 2.0 speeds but at least they will be functional

the 5.25 card reader will use 2 USB 2.0 headers, so there would be no space left since my mobo maxes out at 2 usb 2.0 headers. eitherway thanks for the reccomendation
