2 GPU 2 monitors

Hello so in short i have a pc 4 years old and other one thats 12 years old, since the old one is just sitting around i would like to make use of it by taking his old graphics and put it in my current pc so i could run old monitor from that pc in extended(?) mode

problem:

will it work if i just put it in and go to windows setting to configure one for each monitor,

no i can not hook up it to same newer gpu since it only has a vga port and DVI-D but both of my monitors support only vga

i would use newer for gaming and older as a screen for random youtube, google and such

yes, but i want to utilize the old one for small works + i think it would degrade preformance since its not a strong one(the "newer" one)
