Which should I upgrade first

I built a budget gaming rig a while ago and now I'm planning the upgrades. My current specs are X4 860K on MSi A68HM motherboard with an R7 370 2GB graphics card. Should I upgrade the cpu + mobo first or would it be fine to upgrade the gpu to an RX 480 ?

the cpu is going to bottleneck the rx 480, upgrade the mobo and cpu first, then the gpu.

Get an i5 6500 and a B150/H110 board first, RX 480 later

get an I5(6500 or 6600k) and motherboard(b150 or h110 if you get the 6500 and z170 if you get the 6600k) and RAM and then if you go with the 6600k then get a nice cooler too

Suggest you go unlocked right away. Why limit yourself now on budget, while in the long run the cost with new platform outwheights the current extra cost needed.

 

Anyway as others suggested go first for a new base to work from with CPU.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, yeah my friends also told me to upgrade my cpu and mobo first. But as an i5 6500 is out of my budget I think I'll wait for AMD Zen to hit the market and plan from there

If you still can wait a while might be good yeah. Zen and Kaby hitting market around same time Q1 next year. If Zen eprfroms a bit might push prices down, so thats a good thing

Update : recently bought a second hand (barely used) GTX 970 for $110. Sold the 370. Looking for cpu and psu upgrades next.
