G502 Query

I've recently purchased a g502 and the largest drawback of it to me was the additional weight, but I wanted it for other purposes such as the buttons and additional functionalities.

 

I'm wondering if anyone has tried playing with the Base cover off? (The removable bottom that's held on magnetically), it feels a lot more lighter than i'm playing but I'm not sure whether or not it damages the mouse by doing this.

I've just tried it without the base, and I personally don't like it, the bottom doesn't sit flush with the surface anymore, and feels like one of those tables where one leg is slightly shorter than the others,and anytime pressure is applied to on side the whole thing starts to wobble. as for any damage, I would think the only harm would be that the low friction material on the bottom of your mouse will ware away much faster
