CPU DOA??

I got a used AMD Athlon II 630 2.8Ghz for my Dell inspiron 570 (I have a 95w cooler) I put it in, it has a white light, and it should be posting, but its not... I put my old one in and it works, yes, I did do a CMOS reset..

It's possible that the BIOS needs an update to run the CPU if the CPU was released after the motherboard was released.  That's assuming Dell even bothered to make the necessary BIOS update available.

If that's not the problem, then yeah, it's almost certainly dead.

Turns out it was the motherboard, works now!
