GPU issue black screen after driver install

Hi
every time i try to  install amd hd 6870 drivers screen goes black and pc crash after several minutes. Any fix.?

Oh, look, someone else found out...

It's a pretty common problem, and after a whole morning of searching I have found no other solution than rolling back on an older working driver

my issue  is that i get this issue with fresh windows install(cant event use windows update provided  drivers) gpu  only  works on  generic driver ..... and is not  detected correctly + locked to 1024x768 rez......
