Microphone Issues, help appreciated

I have a Hyper X Cloud 2 headset and have been using the microphone when playing online. I have recently encountered an issue however where there is very loud and constant crackling and popping sounds when i talk meaning i have to stay muted, (a big problem when raiding). I have also tried using my Vmoda microphone and this also does not work on my PC, however it does on my laptop.

 

I got a new mic for my Cloud 2 and that did not fix the problem.

I have already done the normal fixes (driver uninstalls/updates, different usb ports, checking default device, ect).

 

The thing that i'm wondering is whether or not the problem is my headset hardware or something software side as my Clouds are out of warrenty and i don't want to get a new headset if i don't need to as a really like the Clouds.

 

I'm using Windows 10 on the newest update.

Don't know about your headset but when you plug in the Vmoda mic, search in windows 'manage audio devices', once opened select the 'Recording' tab then select your device and 'set as default'.

I have done this but then the mic starts making loud hissing sounds on discord.
