HDD or SSD?

A SSD will greatly improve system responsiveness and for me it is a must in any system. In gaming it will only improve load times not FPS.

You may have storage issues how ever if the SSD is less than 512GB, games can take up a lot of space. But if you're a light gamer or uninstall games once you're done and use the device for little else, SSD would be fine. I personally would take an SSD in almost any case.

Hardly matters for gaming, if at all. I've read about few very specific parts of specific games that did benefit from an SSD but usually they were just poorly optimized and were making far too many calls on the drive.

 

That being said, especially on a laptop (which usually is more modest in terms of raw power), an SSD is great. It really will make everything much faster than running on an HDD, no matter the rest of the specs. If you would be okay wth perhaps keeping an external 2.5" drive for your bigger files (that is, if an SSD's storage doesn't seem enough to you), go with it. You won't regret it.
