Wifi disconnection

My work wifi disconnects me if I am inactive on my phone for a certain amount of time. Is there an app that will ping a website or something that would prevent it from disconnecting?

What WiFi frequency? 2.4 or 5 Ghz

would background app refresh not be enough to sustain a connection?
like have gmail or something fetch every 5 minutes or 10 minutes

Nope. I don't know why that's not doing it.

Theres an app called WiFi KeepAlive which does just this.
