Hi, two topics that came to my interest as of late: dust removal from a PC (and to an extent its surroundings), and isopropyl alcohol.

Dust

Leaf-blowers? That seems to come up quite a bit other than compressed air, which unfortunately is not common where I live (Malaysia). My area is notoriously dusty, and my table top itself gets covered in a fine layer of dust in less than half a week. While I plan to clean my table either with a mini vacuum cleaner and damp cloths, the insides of my PCs concern me a bit.

Isopropyl Alcohol

I don't have any experience with cleaning the processor of a PC, however if I do intend on switching CPUs, is isopropyl alcohol the only solution? (pun intended). I have read forum posters saying ethanol or other forms of liquid alcohol to be sufficient, just thought I be sure.

Also came across some advice saying its a good liquid to clean rubber cables. True or false?

Thanks to anyone who has any feedback!

Get an electric duster like https://www.amazon.com/DataVac®-Electric-Duster-Anti-Static-Blower/dp/B00U01YVYK

As far as alcohol goes, make sure it's a clean solution. Don't go cleaning your stuff with a bottle of vodka from the liquor store :P

I use datavac for most of the component and microfiber cloth for dirty fans/case (nothing electronic/pcb). You could use air compressor, make sure you hold you fans and not make them spin, it could damage the motor.

Alcohol is the cheapest and easiest to find here in NA. It is only use to remove the thermal paste though. Use this to change cpu or to repaste. You don't have to repaste every 6 months.
