Well, not "need" but definitely ready for it. As you can see by my signature, I happen to have a fairly decent system. What you don't know is that this is my mouse:

s-l300.jpg

So here's what I'm looking for:

1. Wired.
2. Blue LED.
3. Somewhere in the general ballpark of 9 programmable buttons on the left side.

I'm also going to be wanting a mousepad. Nothing too fancy. Just need something that'll track well.

Budget for both: $80-100.

Asking for help because I'm great with systems but stupid when it comes to basic peripherals because they've never seemed important until now.

If what I'm posting has already been posted, I'm sorry.

Take a look at the Steelseries Rival 500. It's the only mouse with a fuckton of buttons that allows proper thumb resting. It's available for pre-order on Steelseries website for $80. For a mousepad, a cheap one like the Steelseries QCK will suffice.

Logitech G600? It is RGB and it has a lot of buttons. I used to have one in the past when I was obsessed with Dota and it was a great mouse.

I just noticed,

on the mouse pad I agree with use any cheap one will work however, I have used a large one in the past and they work so much better. Since he has quite a bit of dosh why not get a XXL one?

Because not everyone has enough desk space for an extended mousepad or needs a blanket...

The QCK comes in a variety of sizes which he can choose from.

Both Logitechs and the Rival 500 are looking like solid mice. I'm leaning toward the Logitech G600 in preference due to price and brand reputation, and the fact that the side buttons are clearly positioned for thumb use. I feel like I'd get lose trying to use the G505. For the mousepad I don't need anything huge but I'm not strictly opposed to it. The QCK looks great. Thanks guys.

EDIT: After reading reviews on the G600, maybe that many buttons won't be too good. More options welcomed.

*Dreaded double post*

Curious about people's experience with larger mousepads that hold both mouse and keyboard. Potentially interested, but don't want to shell out without hearing from people's experiences on it.

basically the reason why we have it on the keyboard as well is for space and looks. If you want a larger area to move your mouse then its worth it. Plus it looks cool
