Overwatch running slowly

Go to solution Solved by SLAYR,

The dgpu is below the minimum spec to even run overwatch, even a modern intel igpu is better, which is the minimum.

I'm running overwatch on bare minimum settings. Lowest resolution, all settings set to low or off.

The game usually runs fine in the waiting room, but when both my team and the enemy team are on screen, rendering explosions and gunshots and the such, i go down to two or three fps.

Internet isn't the issue

Wired connection using powerline adapters (house's wiring is probably three years old, done professionally)

Xfinity cable internet, high speed package, low ping time.

Nothing but skype and razer drivers are running in the background.

I'm on an older gaming laptop

GeForce Gt 635m

i5 3230m clocked at 2.6 GHz

6gb of DDR3 ram

In contrast, my buddie's off the shelf consumer laptop runs on the same settings with no problems on wifi.

I have to be doing something wrong right?!?!

Thanks for the help

Check background processes and if u havent done so already reinstall your OS to get rid of all the preinstalled crap sellers put on laptops. This is a good video to help u with that:

Only software is to blame if u have identical laptops with different experiences.
Luke and Linus mentioned in their latest WAN show that same identical machines will produce different results under Windows 10 so the OS itself might be your problem.

And maybe your laptop is not set to use GT 635m for gaming but instead its using iGPU which would explain the crappy performance.
