Broadwell-E newer than skylake?

Since the 6800k is broadwell-e and the 6700k is skylake, does that mean that broadwell-e is a newer architecture?

No, it's infact a older architecture. The enthusiast platform (E, x99 currently) is a bit behind the mainstream.

Mainstream Broadwell was only launched a small period before Skylake arrived. This is a result of the fact that Intel can't exactly keep up with their Tick Tock strategy.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
