Need help diagnosing this driver/GPU problem

So my card stopped working a few months ago, it gave black screen after the "starting windows" screen (when welcome normally shows up). In device manager it showed error 43.

My friend suggested changing my card to the next pcie slot. I did that and the device manager said it was working normally, but the problem with the black screen persisted. I tried booting on IGFX and then plugging my 2nd monitor into the card, but that made my 1st screen go blank and then display the attached BSOD. I googled the issue. Followed this guide http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/15700040439 but that didn't fix the issue. Device manager still says it's working fine.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Thanks!

The black screen may mean your GPU is fried. Happened to me a few weeks ago. But keep trying to fix it.

I think this is the most likely reason, unfortunately.

Thing is, if it were fried, I would expect it not to display anything at all. But it displays up to the "starting windows" screen. And when i boot using the card after uninstalling the nvidia drivers, it goes to desktop fine. Only after drivers are installed does it cause a problem

Yea, the same thing happened to me, It would be black, but after I messed with the drivers. It would boot normally and after some time it would show black screen again. I tried everything and then brought it to a repair service. They said the GPU is fried but it is still giving some input to the monitor. Get your PC looked at. It is either the GPU that is fried or the motherboard is messed up. Can not be anything else, maybe try changing the cable that connects the GPU to the monitor.

Hmm. It might be the mobo then. I'm currently installing Linux on a 2nd HDD. See if the drivers there work better. I have had it a few times where my computer will work fine but randomly disconnect from the internet. It won't reconnect until I reboot. Everyone elses internet (incl. My phone) works fine while that's happening..

I was planning a new build anyway in the next few months so hopefully it lives until then.

If you are also having problems with your internet, that means it is probably the motherboard. Well if that is the case, than it will be cheaper to replace.

Yeah, best to think positively!

At least I would have found the solution to two problems at once (if the card isn't in fact dead)
